gke - stopping cluster by changing node pool to zero

To stop cluster you have to configure your node pool max instances to zero. And sure enough my connection to the node gets disconnected after it has been resize.

What if it is a autopilot cluster? Delete the cluster is the only options as it is manage entirely by GCP or maybe if you think you can scale down your workload that could be another alternative (instead of deleting the cluster)
